FTP has long been a mainstay of secure online file transfer, and is still a leading implementation. Many systems integrate with it and it is highly scalable, making it an excellent choice for many large-scale use cases.
However, FTP is not without its flaws, and in many situations there are better solutions. One of the greatest drawbacks is the need for a server to host the files, often necessitating dedicated, offsite, and/or hosted cloud systems.
ShareByLink is an excellent alternative to FTP for many applications. Accessible through an easy to use web tool and available for Windows desktop, ShareByLink allows files to be shared instantly through streaming transfers. It’s also free, requires no installation, and unlike FTP, no special software is needed to download the files.
